Gay Star News are reporting that Luxembourg, a small European nation with a population of just over 500,000, has sworn in an openly gay Prime Minister AND an openly gay deputy Prime Minister.
Democratic Party leader Xavier Bettel will take office as PM, while leader of the Socialist Party Etienne Scheider will be his deputy. Bettel has promised that same-sex marriage will be legal in the country ‘in the next year’ and that the Luxembourgish government will look to reform teachings in schools to be based upon ethics, rather than religion.
The country is third in the world to elect an openly gay leader, after Iceland and Belgium, but is the first to swear in two.
